Licensed Veterinary Technician
Barbara is our Licensed Veterinary Technician. For Barb, working in veterinary medicine is much more than a job or even a career. She's felt pulled toward animal care ever since she can remember- serving as a veterinarian professional is truly her calling!
A Roanoke native, Barb began her veterinary adventure in 1988 when she signed on as a Veterinary Assistant/Kennel Assistant at a local animal hospital. She then moved to another clinic, working her way up from a kennel position to the senior Veterinary Technician and obtained her Veterinary Technician's license at the same time. Barb remained with that hospital until 2010. After taking a few years off from the animal-care world and managing a fitness facility, she signed on with a clinic in Troutville, Virginia before joining the Noah's Ark Animal Complex in August of 2018.
As a Technician, Barb enjoys dentistry work and the instant gratification it can bring. She also really like cytology. Most of all, she loves to interact directly with clients on a daily basis and do whatever she can to brighten up a pet owner's day.
Barb's interests outside of veterinary medicine include reading, swimming (she's even won medals in the breaststroke and freestyle as a member of the local swim organization!) and enjoying time with her family. She and her husband, Colin, have two grown sons and a pair of wonderful grandchildren. Barb also shares her life with three dogs- Roxie the Australian Shepherd, a spoiled Terrier mix named Pepper, and a silly Australian Shepherd named Major Tom, as well as three fish and six quirky cats: Ben, Beckett, Grace, MJ, Stitch and Max.
